Father's Message September 5th 2010Dear Brothers and Sisters, The month of September is a busy month in the parish. Our religious education classes begin and other parish programs prepare to get underway. We have embarked on a new school year and families are adjusting to a new schedule. New beginnings and adjustments are a part of our life. It is with this background of new beginnings and adjustments that I would like to make an adjustment on the atmosphere before mass. I am referring to the importance of cultivating silence before mass. This silence is encouraged by the Church, so that we can ready ourselves for the Holy mass and show respect for others. I am sure I am like many of you who enjoy coming into the Church early so that we can prepare ourselves for the mass. In our silence we ready ourselves for the Lord, but we also show our respect for others who are trying to prepare themselves as well. There is no question that we want to be welcoming to one another and communicate our solidarity with one another, but we want to do this with consideration for others and reverence for God. In short let us value the silence that we need before holy mass and thus Honor God and show our respect for others. Thank you for this adjustment and new beginning. In the Risen Christ ~ Fr.
