MinistriesWe have many ministry groups at Holy Family. You are invited to attend any group meeting and join in. If you have questions or wish more informaiton please call the parish office. Parish Outreach MinistryThe Parish Outreach Ministry group meets every 6 weeks at Sister Lorraines house. POM are volunteers who visit the parish homebound once a week to support them in their faith journey, keep them connected to the church in a variety of ways. We also support them through phone calls. Contact Sister Lorraine Schmitz (322-5009). Eucharistic Ministers![]() This group takes communion to the sick and the home bound, as well as help distribute communion at each Mass. Contact the Office at 328-3869. Choir![]() The Choir sings each week at the 9:30 AM Mass. Practice is held each Thursday 6:00 - 7:00 PM from September until May. Contact the Office at 328-3869. Sponsoring couplesThis group meets with couples planning on marriage. They counsel and lead the couple through a series of subject areas to help them understand their commitment. Contact Father Kirby (328-3869) if interested in joining. Parish Grief GatheringThe Parish Grief Gathering group meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 1:30PM. Grief is of many kinds. It may be a loss of a family member, a friend, it may be the loss of physical health or a move from your home; it may be an accident, loss of ability to do for others. Whatever the grief, you need not carry it alone. Watch the bulletins for any announcements regarding the Grief Group. Catholic Jail Ministries:This group visits the Pottawattamie County Jail. They visit with the women and men weekly at the jail. They are currently in need of a few more men to visit with the inmates once a week. Please call the Office at 328-3869 if you have an interest. Ministry of PraiseA group in the Church who volunteer and are commissioned to pray for the Church of Holy Family and the universal Church as well. Their main ministry is to pray and offer their suffering for the needs given to them each month in a letter form the Pastor and Parish Minister. The letter includes any intentions people have asked us to pray for and all intentions written in our prayer journal. These volunteers are mainly retired or are homebound and wish to remain active in their Church. Contact the Office at 328-3869. Prayer Chain GroupOur church believes strongly in the importance and value of prayer. This group of Parishioners pray for people and special intentions. If you have someone that needs prayers, a special intention, or would like to join the group please contact the Office at 328-3869. Altar Servers![]() Both girls and boys, upon reaching fourth grade, are eligible to be altar servers. There is a training period held sometime during the year in order to learn what is involved and what to do. After the training period, the severs are placed on the schedule. Altar severs are responsible to get their own substitute, if unable to serve at their scheduled time. Contact the Office at 328-3869. Ushers![]() Ushers greet people and distribute Sunday bulletins as they enter church, help latecomers find seats, and collect the offering during Mass. Ushers are also responsible for putting pews in order after the services and taking attendance count. Vince Grund is the coordinator for the ushers, if interested in serving as an Usher please contact the Office at 328-3869.
